In February, 2018, Idaho lawmakers came together for a common cause – the Steps for Schools Walking Challenge. For the fourth year in a row, Idaho’s senators, members of the House, and even the attorney general were walking together to raise awareness of childhood health issues in the state. Each participant was outfitted with a Fitbit device and challenged to walk an average of 10,000 steps per day. Everyone who met the goal would be awarded $500 for playground or physical education equipment for the school of their choice.
And wow, were they up for the challenge! Together, they walked over 10 MILLION steps and raised $15,000!
The Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health, through our High Five Idaho initiative, was proud to bring lawmakers together for such an amazing cause. We thank each participant for their involvement in raising awareness of these important issues facing Idaho families.
